Recently had to reinstall windows XP home on an old comp. but now previosly texted information such as addresses , names etc no longer prepopulates in the text window. Does anyone know whether this can be activated by a setting in Outlook Express? thanks

It depends on how you reinstalled XP. Did you save your personal data?

If you reinstalled XP and formatted drive then all previous personal data will have been wiped.

If you saved your personal data and files to either CD, ext HDD or other media then you will have to Import it back into Outlook Express on your fresh install of XP.

Thanks lotvic, what I did not make clear is that it does not remember anything now typed in since the reinstall, which was just a clean wipe. Is there something which you have to set for it to remember and prepopulate now when for instance typing in a name that you may have typed in a few days ago?

Is this what you need?

The AutoComplete feature in Outlook Express in Windows XP saves you time by automatically completing addresses that you type when composing e–mail messages.

To turn AutoComplete on:

1. On the Tools menu in Outlook Express, click Options.

2. Send tab, and then tick the Automatically complete e–mail addresses when composing check box

click on 'Apply' and 'OK'
