I noticed my hard drive was suddenly more full than I thought & remembered it is a good idea to get rid of all those.tmp files & .log files. Is that still a safe thing to do & are there any other similar groups I can saely delete?

It just may be a build up of system restore points

They usually take up to 15% of the disc space so SR would use 30GB of a 200GB hard drive

Quick and safe way to start is to use ccleaner.
