hotmail email accounts-are they safe?

just a general question really.

how secure are hotmail email accounts?
i use an msn one for some stuff.
is it any more likely to get hacked than say my personal OE address i use through my ISP?

the reason i ask is because 90% of the junk mail i receive is from these kinds of addresses

The security of email acounts are probably all on power with each other. I tend to use hotmail for my junk, i.e. when I have to sign up for something on the net I use my hotmail. I have my own email with my ISP this is the one I use for close friends. So far in two years I have received no junkmail into my ISP account, because I am particular who gets it, however if one of my friends email accounts become compromised by a spammer then any addresses he will have will also be compromised. Hope this is of use.

Hotmail scans and blocks suspect atachments and informs you why it has blocked

I wouldn't use hotmail or anything I wouldn't want to appear in the newspaper.

Neither would I use it for anything I wanted to keep private in any way, such as personal or financial details.
