Hotel Internet

I am sitting in a central London hotel room with my laptop (a fast Sony VAIO) having paid £7.95 for internet access. There is an ethernet cable set up in the room. I have logged in and been through the process where it debits my room account and the speed is diabolically slow. It took 10 minutes (yes) to load my web mailbox. I complained to reception and they sent up a complimentary wireless access card. I disabled the cable and logged in to the wireless network. Just as bad.
The hotel has 14 floors and I guess about 700 rooms plus public area wifi. Before I complain again, my assumption is that their server/router just cannot handle the amount of traffic. Is this what to say to them?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but why not give it a try at a time when there is less traffic on the go. Perhaps the receptionist could give you an idea of when the best/quietest time might be!
