Hosts files+Spybot

There are about 60 Hosts files in Drivers\etc all apparently by courtesy of Spybot. Should I be regularly deleting these? I assume that a new one is generated each time that Spybot is updated?
I also use SpywareBlaster and wonder if that too is affecting Hosts files?
I don't understand Hosts, needless to say, and would appreciate guidance.

I should have added that I'm running Windows XP Home, SP3.

Thanks DieSse.
Went into Spybot and clocked "Add Spybot S&D Hosts list".
Checked again in drivers\etc and I still umpteen hosts.xxxxx.backup files plus one file: hosts.txt
Should all these files be there?

I think you should delete the backup copies - the real one is the txt one - the others are old ones. I'm presuming the Spybot updates the file from time to time as mew entries are needed - but keeps the old ones in case of issues.

I've just looked and deleted all of mine. If you look at them they have gradually more recent dates and larger sizes, so I think it's pretty clear what they are.

Ah! You mean that you also had lots of files?

Yup.

OK. Thanks, cheers.
