Homepage highjacked - please help

  flick 13:23 29 Dec 2005

My son's laptop has been infected with something which 1. displays a blue screen and the heading 'Detected spyware System error #384' and a lot of alarmist stuff that can 'only' be deleted by clicking on a removal link. I haven't done this.

2. ads popping up randomly(even when not in IE) eg blow-outsales (registry cleaner, hug-ediscounts and so on.

I've tried ad aware, spy bot search and destroy and he has Norton virus software up to date. Ad aware has found critical objects which I've deleted but the problem recurs.

Any help would be much appreciated
