I'm looking for some ideas on how to set-up a cheap home CCTV system. It needs to be able to record video and sound from a conversation being had at the front door, but if an external camera can be avoided that would be best. The camera (and mic if separate) need to be wireless. I have a PC base unit that can be used to record.
The system should only start recording from a specific trigger being activated (e.g. the front door being opened). It would also be useful to have a small wall mounted display to see who is at the door before answering it.
So, does anyone have suggestions as to the best way to set this up or have any hardware or software suggestions? All hardware should be discrete so that it doesn't impose in the house. This also means that everything but the PC need to be battery operated.
All input welcome! I'm starting from a fairly clean sheet as even the existing base unit can be upgraded if necessary.
