would you explain in more detail what you want to do. Get good insurance approved locks to all access doors , or just virus protection for your computer?

First of all List the risks
Software damage
Hardware damage

Second for each risk list the likely hood
Theft = of hardware = home security
Theft of software = computer security - firewall

Third appraise consequences
Loss of life saving info stored on PC
loss of livelihood - bank details - sensitive work docs
loss of sentimental - photos etc,

You need to identify what risk you are actually assessing.

Is it the risk of fire, the risk of falling downstairs, the risk of flooding, break-ins, subsidence?

"One size fits all" rarely works for risk assessment.

Sorry, mis-read the thread. Didn't clock the fact that was PC related. (subsidence? lol!)

it is a ict security coures so i think it would be how is my pc at risk.
