HOME NETWORKING

I've set a home network but it's not working properly. My desktop can see my wireless laptop but can't access it's shared folders. My laptop can't see my desktop although can see the workgroup. I connect to the internet via a wireless router. All keys and encryption type are the same, I have DHCP enabled on the router and the IP addresses are correct. Any ideas why laptop can't see desktop and desktop can't access laptop folders?

do you have file and printer sharing established on each machine and the relevant files, and are the firewall settings allowing each ip address access or at least file sharing access to each other.
