Home Network - XP PC and Windows 7 laptop

BT Home Hub 2 connects to the laptop using wireless OK. I couldn't get the network setup to work. I used the Wizard on the XP, I put in a memory stick when requested, then plugged that in the laptop. Nothing seems to have happened, no Network. Is there something obvious I've missed?

You need to run the wizard on both PC's.

The 7 is a different system, it won't connect to the old one.

It could be the workgroup name that is wrong. It is different from XP to W7.

In XP if I remember it is MSHOME. In Visat and W7 it is WORKGROUP.

I named the workgroup WORKGROUP in XP.

Is the desktop by the router? If so just plug anetwork cable into the router and the desktop.

Sorry I've been away ...

Assuming the HomeHub is connected to the Desktop, then an Ethernet cable to Laptop will certainly work.

From your link:

'One significant drawback to the HomeGroup concept is that it works only with Windows 7, so any Windows XP or Windows Vista systems in the home will not be able to participate.'

Can I clarify, the laptop is connected to the internet wirelessly via the Home Hub, that is not the problem.

Plugged the memory stick back in the laptop and located it in Computer. Double clicked on the contents and got 'Network setup complete'.

Now I can see the desktop, and more importantly, the printer, online. But when I try to print, it doesn't.
