Home Network

I have a laptop which has Win2000 (and is already connected to www using wireless router) and a desktop that has XP and yesterday I tried to link them up via a home network - I have a D-Link wireless router.

I used XP's "home network" wizard and worked my way through the instructions until it came to a part that instructed me to use a flash drive to take the settings to all the devices that would be part of the network. No problem! Or so I thought. When I had the settings on the flash drive I took it to the router but there wasn't anywhere to plug the flash drive into????? So how do I do it???

Also when I took it to the laptop, I plugged it in ok but then what? What do I have to do to get the settings from the flash drive onto the laptop?

So I decided to try it the other option which was manually take the settings to the other devices. So XP gave me some settings that I had to write down and input on the other devices, but again, how? Where?

Please help - I'm sure this is just me being silly but it's baffled me
