Hi, i have a pair of working Hitachi speakers but unfortunately i cannot get them to work on my pc, please can anyone tell me how to check if my pc is capable of audio?

Whats your pc specs?
What Windows are you running?
Is there audio ports on the back of the case?
Check if the sound is unmuted in the sound options ? (located in control pannel)

Hi thanks, no mute, infact there are no audio controls in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop. im running xp. When i locate my volume settings i get the message 'there are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, and then click hardware', is this what i must do?

Ps- all i get in control panel is 'printers and faxes'!!

Have you install the audio card driver for the motherboard

Are they powered speakers (ie have an amp in them) - if not you won't hear them.

If you need to find drivers for your motherboard(the sound is on the motherboard?). Then check with the motherboard manufacturers site.

If you don't know what yr motherboard is, then you can use (free) everest to tell you.
