Hit with I-Worm.Tanatos.b (aka BugBear.b)

I think that I may have been hot with the I-Worm.Tanatos.b (aka BugBear.b) worm. I think I managed to get rid of it, I have Kaspersky Personal Pro. How do I make sure that there are no more traces of it at all on my system as I am still not 100% sure, I think I may have to format to be 100%... well maybe 99%

Kaspersky should have a walk through for you to delete it

Will see if this helps, but what about if other files are infected? Will this come up as also being a virus?

Kaspersky should have a step by step somewhere on their site to make sure that if your were/are infected that your system is cleaned completely.

Sometimes you do this with boot disks, sometimes (if lucky) can be cleaned on-line.

I use NAV so can't actually give anymore help.

Cool, where can this be found as I can't find it!

Cheers people for the help, I do know about computers, honestly I do, it's just being a student and before 12 doesn't help matters

It seems that all my pop3 mail has been deleted from my outlook express!!! My hotmail account is still alright but all my pop3 has gone.

Is there anyway of getting this back? What would the virus done with it all? Forwarded it???

Please help,

Many thanks,

I'm not impressed by your AV supplier!

Try this link to Symantec (Norton) There is a removal tool and you need to follow the instructions carefully.
w32.bugbear.b@mm.removal.tool.html" title="http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.bugbear.b@mm.removal.tool.html" TARGET="_new">click here

Echo MartinT-B - I`m not impressed either.
Good Luck

Managed to save my e-mails, I think I may format anyway as it's slowing down. Has anyone got any suggestions for a top quality anti virus package for a "power" user.

University uses Sophos, is this the best?

Norton (NAV) or McAfee.

No contest.

AVG if money is tight, but imho you get what you pay for....
