Hijacked icons

  sutemil 01:00 31 Jan 2007

During a spell where my PC was 'freezing up' and on internet I regained control but found that all application folder icons on desktop (and some elsewhere) had changed (design with hammer and chisel)
Did this occur within Windows application or somerwhere else ?
How do I get them back to their own design without having to reinstall programs, I tried system restore but this was unsuccessful.
I operate Windows Me

Try right-click on an icon ans select Properties.

On the Short Cut tab slect the Change Icon button and then select the icon picture you want. If you are not offered one you want then the original icon is usually found in the appropriate application folder under C:\program files\ if you use the Browse option.

PS Make sure that the short-cut is to the application you expect.
