I have a high pitch noise from my pc. My hearing is no as good as it used to be and I cannot tell if its from the power unit or not. The only other fan is in the processor cartridge [early pent 3 processor never had seperate case fans and no graphics fan. Any tips on lubicting fans to solve the problem please.

peel the label back on the fan and there hould be a small hole underneath. 1 drop of light machine oil should do the trick

Just a tiny drop, though, and only in the hole. Any excess or overspill will fly everywhere when the fan starts!

Two places you can get kind of noise is Line output in a Crt Monitor, or PSU

thanks for the tips, I have a dell tft no crt so thats eliminated.

Re the fan would 3in1 cycle oil be classed as a light engine oil. if not where would I get this from please.

Get the oil from sewing machine shop. 3-1 is too heavy

Bisley Gun Oil works for me.

i'll try the sewing machine option first, no gun shops in staines.

Try drop of WD40

Spray the WD 40 and leave overnight. Give it a wipe in the morning before starting it up. Also, leave a rag or kitchen towel uner the fan overnight.
