Anyone know how to add hibernate to the Windows 7 start menu. By default it has only sleep and I would like both

Control panel.Power Options.
On the left panel choose what power button does.Click on shut down and choose Hiberate.
So every time you shut down using the on off switch it goes to Hibernate.

I often wondered what would happen if your screen freezes and you have to shut down using the power button would it still be frozen when you come out of hibernation.
Worth thinking about or maybe search and see if you get any answers.

Mr Mistoffelees/buteman,
Can you help me get to the command prompt. I can't get passed the c:\users\barry. I'm logged on as an administrator but it still tells me that I don't have the permissions. I've even created an new administrator account but still cannot get the plain c:\ prompt

Start.Type cmd in the space at the bottom and click on cmd at the top.

Or.Start.All Programs.Accessories.And click on command prompt.
You can right click on it and choose run as administrator.

I've managed to get the c prompt and type in the powercfg /hibernate on but so far it hasn't worked. I've tried tapping return after entering the command and not tapping return but neither has worked. What do you reckon

Try it the way I said and see if it works that way.
That was the way I did it and it worked Ok for me.
