downloading the drivers from Asus for my new build using Asus P6X58D-E Motherboard with XP Pro 32bit.

the link to Asus driver is here: click here

I have a single SATA II HDD but I am unsure if I need to download the SATA Driver? or the Intel Storage driver as well The SATA driver offered is either Marvell 912x or/& 9128 for this so really stuck for which I need.

My XP Pro is installed didn't need to do any F6 install as its a Intel chipset and I am not using AHCI or RAID

Thanks for any forum users who can assist in advance.

i just use the cd and it auto installs everything you need. i only download new graphics card drivers as they are the only ones that make any difference.

But from advice I was recomended to manually download the newer drivers from Asus website as the ones of the CD are a little dated.

Can any forum user tell me which of the SATA drivers I need to download and install from Asus website for my P6X58D-E please as there are 3 listed which are all different in description from click here the page does take a moment to load

As citadel suggested I would install all the drivers from the CD, then look for updates. Though the chances are you won't need any.

Just do an update driver and let it find the driver it wants on the net. By the way the link didn't work at all.

Dark Mantis, when you say do an update driver and let if find the drivers on the net, how do you mean? Windows update or via Asus CD ? Will try the Cd but don't want a load of utility tools being installed.

One the motherboard page you linked to, under the specifications tab it lists the Marvell 9128 PCIe SATA 6Gb/s controller under the storage section.

Would I be wrong in saying that is the one you need? I'm not being sarcastic, just wondering as that's the only one listed.

thats makes sense for the extra SATA drivers, not clear in the download section though its intended for SATa 6Gb/s

I won't be using the 6GB/s yet but I suppose it will require the driver in the system32/drivers/.inf file maybe at setup of XP will leave sata driver till last to see if it give a Yellow in Device manager. Well pointed out gazzaho!

Thank U

Like everything else to do with computers, the 6Gb/s part is only there to confuse you. I think that's just the transfer speed of the controller.

Good luck with the build.

though I will probably use the CD

The Marvell 912x is actually 9123 which according to my Motherboard manual isn't in the specification for the motherboard but its the 9128 which is. Why do they give the 912x which is a 9123 as a driver? is it for the Sata 6GBps or a typo?
