Help! Weird program and weird I.E. History. Virus?

  Nick052 18:12 05 Aug 2004

Ive just turned my PC on and as soon as it booted, I noticed a program load near the start menu i had not seen before.

There are also a couple of icons on the desktop. One is "Instant Access" and one is "NoCreditCard".

Believing these to be slightly dubious (and not knowing what they lead to either), I have not clicked either.

I then looked at my Internet Explorer history. If you look "by Order Visited today", there is nothing out of the ordinary. But if you look under "By Date", there are LOTS of pornographic websites come up as been access today, HOWEVER when you click to expand these, nothing happens. So they havent been actually viewed in I.E. today.

Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

I cannot uninstall this "instant access" thing that seems to have downloaded as it is not in "Add/Remove" programs.

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I installed the Search and Destroy thing, and it found 178 spyware problems on my computer! These have now been removed from my machine.

However, I was unable to remove the "Instant Access" and "NoCreditCard" things that have appeared (now loads on start up too) since I do not have McAfee virus protection so the link you provided Thetford Brian did not work.

Anyone have any ideas how to remove this program from my machine?

Thanks for the suggestions.

The program was in StartUp so ive removed it so it doesnt load when Windows does any more.

However, I installed that virus checker, and the dialler wasn't picked up, hence it is still on my machine.

Are there any dedicated programs for removing unwanted diallers?

I am running Trend PCCillin Virus Checker if anyone knows a way to use this program to remove the dialler.

Any suggestions gratefully received.
