Help on USB by PCMCIA required

  Enoch 07:34 09 Jul 2006

I am in the process of buying a USB hub to extended my Laptop (XPhome) USB capabilities. I currently use a PCMCIA Notebook Card which does extend my USB requirements, but uses my Laptop power only.

I now need to have a USB hub with its own power supply, as the add-ons I now have need the hubs own power as well. I have seen mains powered USB hubs for sale, which actually uses one of the two existing USB ports on my PC which would work. However, I would prefer a "mains" powered PCMCIA noteook card to extend my USB connections.

Therefore my question is to find out if there is such a thing as a "mains powered PCMCIA notebook card USB hub"

Phew!!! I hope that this has all made sense

Yes. I have a PCMCIA laptop card that is powered and gives 2x USB 2 ports. I bought it from PC World.

anskyber, thanks, that is EXACTLY what I wanted. I was at PCWorld on Sunday and asked if there was such a thing. The salesman assured me that there was NOT and he had been at PCWorld for 4 years---!!!!!!

Again, thanks "anskyber"
