help with sound drivers please

  Andy.F. 16:15 19 Sep 2005

I was given an older computer on the understanding that I format the drive and reinstall windows. This I did. the computer is an emachines 270. I installed it with XP pro. when I installed Aida32 to see what I needed in the way of sound drivers this is what I was shown. intel 82801DB(M)ICH4(-M)AC'97 Audio Controller [A1]. I downloaded a driver for least I believe it was the right one. The second section in Aida32 showed ..... 0001 0066 MPU-401 .....this is where I've come unstuck. I can't seem to find a driver for this 0001 006 MPU-401 . am I doing something wrong please. many many thanks to all..Andy

There is a website for e-machines and if you put in the serial numbers etc you will get the correct drivers. I did this on a PC World supplied machine recently and the first driver you installed looks correct. I will see if I can remember the web address.

........about "mpu 401" and it came up with a generous selection things to do with Roland and soundcard If you try it you may find what you want there.

try looking on an older nforce 2 nvidia cd rom the one suplied with a graphics card..called utilities cd there are allways the two most common onboard sound chip drivers like real and creatives ,I have done that with older boards ,,and gigabyte for instance have sound drivers that are used on most other boards .

It`s another PC World Job! With extended warrantees that nobody can be bothered to find out the details for! That`s how they make money.

Try click here type 270 in the top right hand search box and then go to downloads. You will have to follow the link to intel but you should find all the necessary drivers on the site for the 270 machine.

This helps click here={17393391-e482-4794-b877-1d9c1557b814}&CatID={65777100-f3f0-48b1-9383-567ed7b0c82c} The MPU 401 is a compatible Midi device. I suggest you reload the driver from the site - looks like you have the wrong one.

Sorry Crap link. From the homepage select PC Support. Under Desktop PC`s drop down box and select eMachines. Click the far right link x70 the left link for 270 model. Then choose system info. This page tells you what was on the machine ex-factory.
