help with smitfraudfix

i have found out i have smitfraudc on my computer, so downloaded the fix, when so i ran it and selected the option clean, all it seems to have done is changed my homepage and my desktop background im still getting the pop ups, does anybody know where there is a step by step guide on how to run this program?

You would do best by running a hijackthis scan at one of the specialist sites as caution is needed unless you know what you are doing.

well i tried to download hjt followed the instructions, it says that the zip file for hjz has a generic worm and wont let me open it

I suggest that you post on the MWR forum click here , describe your problem and what happens when you try to use HJT.

just to comment; you have managed to post a thread over on malware forum and you have posted a reply ; the helpers over there tend to look for posts with nil replies to indicate to them who are the new ones who need help; so to advise you, you may now experiencee a bit of a delay in a helper coming to your rescue over there as only specific trained ( or training ) Uni forum members over there are allowed to post to the HJT threads; sit tight and someone there will reply to your question once your thread has been spotted ,and they will then help you in any way possible to get rid of any malware on your computer;good luck:))
