Help Setting Up A Wireless Conection

I have been given a windows 2000 professional SP4 laptop which i would like to join to are wireless router, the router we have is a Netgear, also given to me was a 802.11g wireless cardbus adapter, i have installed the software and hardware and it picks up are network name but when you go to click on internet explorer it just says page cannot be found, i tried to set up a new connection but failed, does anyone know how to get connected

It would be worth checking if the wireless adapter/card is enabled.

Streetwork , if it is picking up the networks one must assume it is enabled .

vista18dc , when you say it is picking up the network , have you actually double clicked on the connection and entered the network security key , either WEP or WPA that you either set up yourself or came with the wireless router and connected to the internet before opening Internet Explorer ?
