I wonder if anyone can help me with a laptop problem.

For some reason Antivirus 2009 has downloaded on to my sister in laws system and I cannot figure out how to remove it for her. She has also downloaded spyhunter 3 as this claimed to be able to remove so promptly done the scan but the problem is now when she log on it logs straight back off.

Maybe try in safe mode.Just keep tapping F8 as computer starts,And remove Spyhunter 3 from add remove.Run any security programs that she has. Then reboot the computer and see if it starts.Try downloading and running Malwarebytes and see if that here

If its XP, why not run System Restore to before they was loaded. Then Clear the leftovers after a Search. As Registry will have been cleared by using Restore

Many thanks for all the input, much appreciated.

I have tried to start in Safe Mode by tapping F8 at the start and when it come to the user account icons I have clicked on each of them in turn (there are 4) and it says logging on plays the windows sounds and then says logging off before it gets anywhere.

Prior to this I tried a system restore but as soon as I went into control panel etc it shuts the system down.

I will keep trying F8 to see if it eventually lets me in but until I get in I cannot try any of the other suggestions.

Try just F5

Sorry to ask but when do I need to press F5? And what does this do?
