help with ram needed

hi all,

this is my 1st time so please be nice.

here we go, id like to update my ram and have all ready used the cpu-z program

however its says i have 1x 512mb pc2-4300{266mhz}

but the ram inside is 512mb pc2-4200{533mhz}

have i got a fake dud,which is correct
any ideas?

Hey rexrap, if your PC is new was it built for you, what led you to believe you had that speed of ram in the first place.

I would phone Crucial and explain the problem. They are good over the phone.

If your memory came with the computer (from Dixons) it’s not likely to be fake so I would be inclined to believe what the specs/manual or makings on the ram inside says.

From your scan it looks like you have one bank free to put in another 512mb of memory.

hi,
been back to pc world and even on their website they have a different spec they claim it should be pc2-5300 this is what their advertising!

but i have been informed it would make no difference to the speed,

ill buy another of whats inside and see how it goes, so far so good.
