Help with photo file types

  ChrissieD 19:10 14 Jul 2006

Am building a website, when I try to upload scanned photos it only recognises those with jpg or gif file types. I had a 30 day trial of paint shop pro which has now ended as it is expensive to buy.

I have Windows XP, is there a programme I am likely to have already which would work so I don't have to buy another?

When I scan photos I have the option of saving them in tif format, the only other options are all using paint shop pro.

Any ideas please?

File / Application choices

When preparing to scan, is there not an option of scanning as 'file' in a drop down box. This will allow you to save as required, ie. png, jpeg, gif etc. bypassing any applications.

Sometimes a scanner offers up an option by default (mine offers Adobe each time I light it) but almost always I choose 'file'.

Hope this may be of help

Thank you Jack, woodchip and scanjet. Have now downloaded serif.

I appreciate your advice.
