I am running Windows XP Home Edition, Iwas trying to Add extra Memory with a 256 DDR Ram taking it up to 512 MB Ram ,and when I inserted the Module into the Board and ensuring it went click and locked , I turned the PC on and all that came out was a Beeep silence then another Beeep and so on, until I turned the PC off .What was the Beeep mean as I could not bring up the Screen as well. was the memory seated properly
take out old memory and put new one in its place
if it dont work you got broken memory
have you checked to see if memory is correct voltage and speed

If it's Award bios.

1 Long Beep: Memory problem

Explanation: There is a failure of some sort related to the system memory.

Diagnosis: The first bank of memory probably has a failure of some sort; this is usually just a physical problem such as an incorrectly inserted module, but may also mean a bad memory chip in a module.
