HELP! I can't format and reload operating system

  ppaige 00:49 19 Aug 2009

I have a computer that has not been started for over a year. I started it but got nothing so I tired to reload the operating system. It asked me for a password which I don't have or cannot remember. So I tried to format the hard drive and reload the operating system. It gets all the way through the formatting but when it try's to load the operating system I get an error message about the bios or try to reload. I am using windows 2000 can't find my XP. It was used in my office and when we closed the office I think someone locked the computer what can I do. What should I do? How can I bypass any password? The computer won't let me in Bios without it.

Removing the CMOS battery on the motherboard should reset the BIOS to default settings and remove any password.
