help to get attachment to send as jpg or bitmap

Hi all, I'm trying to help a neighbour send an email with an attachment but seem to be having problems.

The programs we have used are Open Office and Serif's Page Plus 6.

Open office will not save scanned item as jpg or bitmap and Serif will only save as .ppp files.

I've tried senting the attachments using yahoo mail and MSN messenger but both have failed to send it.

Does anyone know of a free program my neighbour can use to either convert the attachments to .jpg/bitmap or of a program that will import the scanned items as .jpg/bitmap which can then be sent as an attachment. Again preferably free.

The scanner being used is an epson perfection 1250 and my neighbour is using winME.

Thankyou in advance,

Photofiltre click here a nice graphics package that will import from scanner and save to a wide variety of graphic formats, not too big either.

Thanks again,
