want to buy dvd writer for sons christmas pc rns windows 98SE with Intel celeron (tm) think it its 500 mhz 63mb ram what should i buy and how do i find if processer speed is correct ie 500mhz not to tech help as am a pc dummie thanks

Start > settings > control panel. Click on System. The CPU speed is shown.

Hi, what size hard-drive has he got, needs at very least 20Gb, more would be better - most people these days have upwards of 40Gb. More memory also for better results, the average today is for 256Mb RAM. Processor at about minimum spec, but should be ok, again these days most people have upwards of 800Mhz. Happy Christmas !!

Agree with Technotiger 63mb (I assume 1mb is being used for the graphics) is not really enough. A dvd-rw I recently bought required a minimum of 128mb. I would look carefully before you buy.
