help connecting front USB ports to motherboard

  cheerup347 00:01 13 Sep 2009

On my motherboard I have 3 sets of pins I can connect my case USB ports to.

The options I have are USB78, USB910 and USB1112.

The connector from the case simply says USB and there is no mention of this in the case guide.

Which one should I use?

It doesn't matter which one you use. If the pins/connections are marked this might help

USB+5V = VCC (Colour Red)
USB P5- = -D (Colour White)
USB P5+ = +D (Colour Green)
GND = Ground (Colour Black)

The connector I have matches up to all 3 of the sets of pins. they are all identical. Am I safe to use any of the USB connections?

Yes, safe to use any of them. The numbers just mean ports 7&8, 9&10 etc. You can even get a USB backplate (Maplins have them) and connect the cables on that to spare ports at the back of the PC.
