Would anyone be able to advise me on the best way to capture an image off tv? I work in the health sector and some of our consultants get interviewed and we need to record these interviews and be able to take a still from the recording for file purposes. We were thinking of doing something like sky plus and get a dvd recorder to get the interviews, but how to thencapture an image. Is this a practical way to do it? Or can we get software for the pc that is cheaper that does the same job.Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

If your filming these people then just connect your camcorder to a pc which has the appropiate connections (firewire, USB, AV leads) and whilst your watching, press print screen. Or get a very cheap digital camera, it'll take better pictures than most video cameras.

No these would be images off tv, we wouldn't be doing the filming

So how are you seeing the images on TV? Are you getting a DVD, is it being broadcast? Are you plugging in the camcorder?

View the TV interview through a PC with a TV card. Then use 'Print Screen' to capture the image and pring off.

It's an interview on gmtv or local news or a documentary - we need to be able to record it for filing plus get a still of the interview for use in our staff newspaper etc

Then as Fellsider suggests, a tv card will give you all you need, USB ones are simpler to install.

You should be aware that for TV cards to work properly a strong aerial signal is required.

PC with TV card, record inteview then when you playback capture stills as before.

hi - thanks for replies - so the pc has to have a tv card and outside ariel linked? how can you record something that is taking place at say 10pm when no one is in the office? sorry if these questions are silly

You can schedule the tv card to record at any time, program, etc quite easily.

have you any experience of these cards? can they be installed on a networked pc etc
