heatsink or fan?

Hi, i have just upgraded from a 1.4hz to 2.0ghz processor. On the old processor was a huge heatsink, this is enclosed in a tube to a fan on the side of the case. Will this be sufficient cooling for the new (2.0hz) processor, or should i get a new fan for the processor? Many thanks.

To be on the safe side, I'd go for a new fan / cooler unit unless you know the details of the old one and are sure it is suitable.

Try it first as these are better than most If it connects OK. Check temps in BIOS

Im suprised you didnt get a fan and heatsink with the new cpu most shops sell them as a set package now,i woulg go for a new fan/heatsink just to be safe.

Have you checked BIOS for a health page

I'd play safe and get a new heatsink and fan.
