Headphone socket output impedance.

Do laptop/notebook computers have a standard o/p impedance? If so, what is it? I asked the suppliers of my notebook what it's o/p impedance is but they don't know!

Normally the output should match 32O heaphones. Because of the low output the headphone impedance is not that importent, you can use any impedance up to 1kO or more.

If its line output it will be 10kO which is no good for phones.

That O=ohm, it doesn't translate on this forum.

Most headphone sockets (and I don't expect a laptop to be any different) have an impedance of about 32/75 ohms, not to be confused with the impedance of suitable headphones.

Thanks both. I had a feeling that 32 ohms was the figure and I do like to match my Zs.
