You have to also connect Analog sound cables. the ones that have round sockets with different colour like white yellow blue or red. I think the red is Video but you need to check

  woodchip 18:25 17 Nov 2007

PS you can get these to connect using the sound out on lappy split to analog plugs

You're probably thinking of RCA connectors.

White = Left Audio.

Red = Right Audio.

Yellow = Video.

These are the generally accepted conventions, although I have seen manufacturers deviate from these.

Pickup head connections on magnetic cartridges usually use the audio L & R colour codes.

It does.

You may need to go into the output of the Sony or the input of your TV to tell it to "hear" the sound.

If using Component cables,red and white audio cables are needed,however if using HDMI,there is no need for extra audio cables unless extra devices are being used.click here

No HDMI-I can carry sound but you will not get it work, even if you could find a cable.

hdmi thougt hdmi carried audio

Your Graphics card is for Graphics not sound hence you need to connect sound card to TV via RCA as above. Your TV is connected to your Graphics not Sound card
