HDD Volume Missing

Hi All

I have recently had to start from scratch with my system due to a large, and very fatal crash. In the process, I upgraded one of my HDD's from 30 to 80 Gb but made no other hardware changes.

I now have the new 80 Gb drive installed as master on IDE-0 (jumpered correctly) and have installed Win XP Home on it. I installed my old 80 Gb storage drive (jumpered correctly and which has never had an OS on it, just photo's)as a slave, also on IDE-0. I have my CD burner on IDE-1 as a master.

My problem is that XP will not display a drive letter for the storage drive. It shows in POST, BIOS and Computer Management but not in explorer or My Computer. Also, my master HDD has been installed at path E:, rather than C: and my burner is at D:. I have attached a USB pen drive to the system and it reported this as C:.

Can anyone explain to me what I have done wrong and how to put things right.
