hdd size wrong and icon disappeared

Got a samsung hard drive 80 gb and had problems when trying to put a os on it. ive re formatted it but it said the size is 32 gb which is wrong. also the icon isn't visible in my computer. please help..

You need to check the jumpers on the drive - there is a specific position to limit the drive to 32mb.

If you reformatted before installing then installed a copy of XP prior to SP2 it would only format a 32G partition.
Use disk managent to format the rest of the drive

it was the hard drive that was causing it to stop on the first screen. also the jumper was set wrong. printed on the drive it has slave position over two pins, but when i went to the site, the slave should be jumperless. after this, it booted, i had access to my c drive and made a dual boot of xp and vista, xp installed first of cause and everything now is brill.
