HDD size on win XP

I am installing windows onto a Western Digital caviar sataII hardrive. The motherboard bios recognises it correctly as 320gb but during XP installation it is only recognised as 131070mb. What do I need to do to correct this?

when you Update to SP2 it will cure the problem.

In Windows, click on Start->Run, enter "regedit".
# Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Parameters registry subkey.
# From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD Value.
# Enter the name EnableBigLba, then press Enter.
# Double-click the new value, set it to 1, then click OK.
# Close the registry editor.
# Restart the machine for the change to take effect.

Your XP must be preSP2 which can only see about 137Gb. Create a smaller partition and install XP on it, then update to XP SP2, and then you will have access to the full drive size and can create and format another (or more) partitions.

rightclick My Computer > Manage > and in the left pane click on Disk Management
