How can I get xp home sp2 to recognise the full size of my hdd? Only 127gb shows of a 250gb disc.Any advice gratefully received.

XP will take up a fair chunk, so too will your programs and data. Also, the formatted size isn't the same as the size it says it is: the advertised size is unformatted.

In Windows, click on Start->Run, enter "regedit".
# Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Parameters registry subkey.
# From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD Value.
# Enter the name EnableBigLba, then press Enter.
# Double-click the new value, set it to 1, then click OK.
# Close the registry editor.
# Restart the machine for the change to take effect.

Have a look at the drive for a jumper that limits the size

PS also if your Computer C:\ Drive is Fat32 then that may also be the problem
