HDD Recognition

My machine fails to recognise drive 'E' on initial boot-up. However, on re-boot it does. Are there any suggestions what might be happening please? I'm not too adept at the computer's innards so I hope the solution, if any, is fairly straightforward.

The OS is Windows ME, 2.07 Ghtz AMD Athlon XP, 512 Mb Memory, 2 x 40 Gb HDD

it is the time that the drive takes to initialise when you first boot. It is obviously a little slow and the system has moved on and no seen it. When you reboot it is already up and running so it is seen by the system.

Thanks Fruit Bat /\0/\ I've done that. Let's see what happens in the morning when I boot up from cold. I'll let you know the outcome.

Hello Fruit Bat /\0/\. Your suggestion worked! Both drives were recognised when I booted-up earlier today. Thanks again for your help.
