HDD Failure

I have a machine running XP Home. It has a Seagate 120 GB 7200 ultra ATA100.
There is a loud mechanical noise comming from the HDD which lasts for about two minutes, it then goes to a gentle hummmm. I have a feeling the the HDD is going to fail. I have a backup of all my files on DVD. The HDD is in three partitons, 'C' working drive, 'D' backup drive and 'E' contains the manufactures original setup.
Is it possible to copy the entire HDD contents onto a new larger HDD and use the original as a slave after re-formating?

Many HDD makers have a utility for copying one drive to another, so check out the websites.
