HDD configuration

What is the best HDD configuration (raid) for gaming ?

It really depends on the game - if it installs large amounts of data to the HD then RAID0 (speed) or RAID5 (speed + security) will improve some performance but if the game loads data from CD or DVD it won't help at all.

Quite often games are optimised to avoid HDD access during gameplay so unless you see the HDD light on all the time when playing its unlikely that it would make any difference - just slightly quicker loading of levels.

GFX card and system memory make more difference-I've seen many silly things happen when the GFX card tries to grab system memory for textures and the whole thing slows to a crawl. My recommendations would be a minimum of 256MB on the GFX card (512 is better) and 2Gb on the system memory.
