HD error

Win XPPro SP3

I have been using Acronis v11 for quite a while without any problems until now.

This morning I tried to do a backup but got a message "failed to read sector etc. 117697775"
bad sector.

I downloaded and checked my HD with the Manufacturers Diagnostic Tool from Western Digital, but this informed me that everything was fine.

Any ideas please?

run checkdisk and let it run when you next start up this will detect and mark any bad sectors. If nothing shows up you might find that your copy of acronis has become corrupted. In which case uninstall it and reboot then install it as a fresh copy.

I have done all that you suggested, and for one reason or another, the drive appears to be fine.
I have backed up a couple of times now without a problem.
I was pleased that I downloaded the Manufacturers tool also.
