Hi guys

I have always had troubles with sfc /scannow

Have you?

This command checks the files are correct and not corrupt within windows.

If you have, here is a way to end your troubles for ever. If you have a Windows XP disc (even if it is XPSP2) then follow the instructions below. It will involve delving into the registry, if you do not like going into the registry then please, do not proceed.

1 Pop your XP CD into the drive.

2 Double Click My Computer and right click on your CD-ROM drive and click on Explore.

3 You should see a folder called I386, right click on it and click copy.

4 Double Click My Computer and then Double click C: Now Right click in C: and select Copy

5 Go to Start>Run and type regedit

6 Click on "My Computer" in the registry and then click File then export and save the settings to desktop(this is now backing up the registry.

7 Double click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup (just a single click here)

8 Now look in the right hand pane and look down the list and you will see "ServicePackSourcePath" and Below it "SourcePath".

9 Next double click SourcePath and a box will pop up. Change The Drive letter to C:

Now restart you computer. Now try sfc /scannow

you are absolutely correct

I meant that you should just change the Drive Letter to C and not change the switch
