Have XP, but I want Win98 too!

I am not totally happy with XP (which is on my new C: harddisk) and would like to re-install Win98 on my old harddisk (which is Fat32, partitioned into D: and E: drives). I read in one of the popular pc mags (can't recall which) that 98 must be on the C: drive which must be Fat32 and not NTFS. Is there an easy way to have both XP and 98 on my pc? If necessary, I do not mind re-installing XP, but I don't want to mess with the BIOS. Please advise.

Here we go....

Install 98 first...

Then XP, XP will notice 98 and make the changes so that you can choose which o/s you would like to use.

Windows 98 must be installed onto a FAT32 partition. XP either NTFS or FAT32 but if you format it NTFS then 98 will not be able to see XP.

So create a partition for 98 and then another for XP (or however many you like). 98 and then XP.

Of course if you use Partition/Boot Magic then you can install them in any order you like.

Partition the disk (my preference is at least three)

Format C: as Fat32 and install Win98

Format D: as ntfs and install WinXP

Format E: as Fat32 and use for shared documents (as win98 cant see ntfs partitions).

click here for a guide and substitute winxp for 2k.

Or do as Powerless / leo49 say and I will learn to refresh pages before posting to them... that way I will not have to repeat others. :-}

Well I think if it was me I would first disconnect the Drive that’s in and set as Slave, Fit the Old drive as Master and format the Drive as Fat32 and load Win98. Then refit the disconnected drive so you can copy any files across to the old drive. I would then remove XP from that drive and do a Reinstall as it will put some files on the Win98 partition.
