Earlier this afternoon I swear I saw a posting from someone asking for a printer that would print C4 envelopes -- envelopes that take an unfolded A4 paper. The responses were for A3 printers which, naturally, will take a C4 envelope, or suggestions that printed labels would be better. I can't find the posting now, either by browsing or by using the search facility.
I checked when I got home, and the paper guides on my Epson Stylus Photo 870 and my Canon BJC600C (both A4 machines) both open up more than wide enough to take a C4 envelope -- I've test printed on one which is 227mm wide. So if you really want to print C4 envelopes, don't rely on what the manuals say, but go to a computer store and measure the guide widths.
