i was typing a letter when the laptop froze. i waited about ten minutes to see if it would normalise again. it didn't so i forced a restart. on rebooting i got a blue screen with the message.

since then i removed the battery. took out the hard drive and replaced it. i switched the laptop back on and it seems ok now but i'm a bit edgy. it did take ages to connect to my wireless network too. why did it go wrong in the first place?
cheers mate. i gave up. its beyond me and i don't have the time or knowledge to tackle a laptop. i've taken it to be repaired by a specialist. i pay him £35 till he can diagnose the problem and then he can tell me just how serious it is and if its worth spending the cash to get it fixed. hopefully its just the hard drive packing up and not the motherboard.
