Harddrive Not Found

  smiffyrebel22 22:48 12 Dec 2008

I am trying to rescue data from a harddrive that has become faulty. The BIOS finds the harddrive, but the rescue software that I have will not find the harddrive when booting from a rescue CD or using a rescue cd in windows. I have also tried western digital lifeguard software but this also does not detect the harddrive. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Use a External Caddy and plug into another computer or fit the drive as slave in another computer to get your files off it

Download CDCheck click here . You will need another hard drive to copy data to.
Run the recover program and select where you want the recovered data to go.
This will recover as much information as possible and store it on your other drive.
Download is a trial version for (i Think) about 15 days.

Thanks Everyone for your help but none of the downloaded software worked however I managed to use Ranish software which got the drive recognised by window disk manager but when I tried to format it it reported (after 98% complete)that the format had failed and as this harddrive is seven years old I think it probably has gone to that Big PC in the sky. Once again thanks for your help
