Are we talking SATA here ?

Assuming yes : try hitting F6 during setup when it asks for third party RAID drivers. Then provide the driver disk for the SATA driver.

Fdisk may not see an NTFS formatted drive.

Where have you looked in XP My computer?
Check in disk management, right click My computer - Manage -storage -disk management.

Thanks for all your inputs, I have tried 2 IDE drives both Xp NFTS formated, so that explains the fdisk problem. I set the BIOS to Auto and it recognizer's the drive but when it is run it comes up with all the usual safe mode set of options, when run in safe mode windows reads all the system files then closes the computer down to stop any damage from being caused.
