i installe linux mandrake 8.1 onto one of my hard drives then later removed it it had a primary DOS partition and a EXT. Dos partition and it says the EXT one is taking up 48% of the hard drives space so i tried to delete it and said you have to remove the logical DOS partition so i went to delete logical parartion and it said there is no logical partition on this hard drive so i can not get rid of it i tried formatting it and i am still trying with FDISK can anyone suggest anything

Get Partition Magic you can then see all the partitions and delete the Linux Partition

A) Remove logical partitions (if any)

B) Remove extended partitions

C) Remove primary partition.

It may help (option 4) to view the partitions on this drive first.

After you have removed all the partitions, restart fdisk and partition the drive as you want it. ie.

1) Create Primary partition

2) Create Extended partition

3) Create Logical partition

The size of each partition is up to you.

Hope this helps,

Bodi

FDISK is no good for Linux partition, when you loaded Linux it will have created it's own partition. so you need what I said above os something simular
