Hard drive slow

  thewasp 22:10 24 Jun 2006

My Maxtor 120gb hd, being used as a slave for games etc has become very sluggish when loading.

I have performed the seagate drive test, but before it completes this it clicks and comes up with "Self-test routine was interrupted by the host with a reset".

Is it time for another drive?

Test with maxtors own tools Maxblast4 click here

As Fruit Bat /\0/\ has said try Maxtors own software, theres very little point trying other makes software as it usually designed for their own drive. I keep backups of Maxblast for Maxtor, Seatools for Seagate and another couple of tools for other makes. I'm really not surprised that the Seagate tools doesn't work.

Thanks, maxblast has confirmed the drive is on the way out.

My mb (Asrock K7VT4a pro) has SATA facility, would a faster 300mb/s drive be OK?
